Go to the Start page to maintain Indexes, perform backups, set up other programs to start, administer AIRAC NavData, and access IF10 config.ini and settings.ini files from the popup menu.
This button selects the next flight destination at random from the searched list. A search for possible locations is made when required. Searched airports include those compatible with the current chosen aircraft. Airports are chosen within an hour of the radius of the requested flight time, because the actual flight times cannot be worked out accurately until a flight is built.
When first pressing the next flight arrow button, a list of compatible airports is created. An airport from the list is chosen at random and a flight generated. Each subsequent press depletes the list, once depleted, the list is refilled and the airports continue to be chosen at random.
The list of searched airports can be cycled though in the Browse Airports, world map page. Choose "Flights Airports" in the drop down list, and cycle through the airports within range.
This calculates the next flight destination to be the last departure airport (Return Flight). If the button is pressed again the destination will be the current airport (Free flight). Free flight will always be selected if an aircraft has not landed there from another airport.
Recalculate the mission start date and time, and rebuild; alternates between "As Soon as Possible" and "Next Scheduled Date/Time". This is always ASAP with Unlimited Flights (0 flights per year in profile). Larger aircraft take longer to refuel and prepare between flights.
Flight Simulator starts in its default state, and no Ideal Flight mission is loaded. Ideal Flight still provides a special save flight slot and other Ideal Flight features, for flights loaded from within Flight Simulator.
If an assessment is entered into the log, the aircraft and the location are entered into the current profile. If it is intended to save a FS Main Menu/Network Play landing position, but want to keep the current parked aircraft, please choose a new aircraft before entering the FS Main Menu command.
View the html flight briefing with your default browser.
Flight Simulator starts with the view from the departure airport tower, with the current Ideal Flight mission loaded.
Flight Simulator starts with the view from the destination airport tower, with the current Ideal Flight mission loaded.
Flight Simulator starts with the saved position from the current Ideal Flight mission.
Flight Simulator starts with the current Ideal Flight mission loaded.
Exit the flight from IF with the left arrow button.
After a successfully completed flight with a score greater than zero, the tick appears at the bottom of the briefing. Accept the score and the briefing is entered into the records. A zero score cannot be recorded.
Edit Profile Text: Edit the user text that appears in the briefing. If you are viewing an aircraft specific page, then the text is for the particular aircraft you have loaded.
Explore My Directories and My Locations: Choose your favourite web pages and directories to explore. Perhaps you have a favourite charts web page and a directory storing them. Go straight to these from the popup menu. Set them each up sequentially with their own popup menu names from the 'Choose My Directory/Location' menu items.
View Assessment: Text of the most recent assessment is viewed in the text editor.
Record Flight Log and View Flight Log: A text file is updated with information, as the flight is built and during the flight.
During flight build, the section times and intervals are recorded.

During the flight logged information shows the absolute simulator time (seconds) on the left, followed by the event information.

See Flight Recorder Logging .csv for instructions to generate a comma separated values file during the flight.
Windows XP: see "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ideal Flight 10\Log"
Windows Vista and above: see "C:\ProgramData\Ideal Flight 10\Log"
Copy: Copy CTRL+C the current airways route string to the clipboard for use at VATSIM etc.
Paste: Paste a single ICAO text to generate a flight to that destination or paste a departure ICAO and a destination ICAO separated by a space to move to a departure and generate a flight to a destination in one go e.g. CTRL+V Paste "LIRN EPLL".
Paste a route string e.g. "LIRN - RUPAX UL612 POLYP UL612 MASEG - EPLL". (>augmented)
Airways are not expanded and filled with other waypoints that exist along the route.
Note that pasted route strings sometimes contain confusing waypoints e.g. "...MASEG - FAF - EPLL" here FAF would not be recognised as the Final Approach Fix but instead would become a VOR elsewhere, and should be removed prior to pasting the route string.
Pasted plans should be like:
VRMM.LELEM.L894.KITAL.P570.ITURA.M762.BUBIN.OMDB VRMM..LELEM.L894.KITAL.P570.ITURA.M762.BUBIN..OMDB ('..' = direct) VRMM LELEM L894 KITAL P570 ITURA M762 BUBIN OMDB (airway ignored) VRMM - LELEM L894 KITAL P570 ITURA M762 BUBIN - OMDB ('-' = direct)
Included SID/STARs will be ignored:
VRMM.L4D.LELEM.L894.KITAL.P570.ITURA.M762.BUBIN.BUBI6A.OMDB = VRMM - LELEM L894 KITAL P570 ITURA M762 BUBIN - OMDB
Everyone should set up the same weather, if shared cockpit, set exactly the same flight. All start from the "Fly!" button, and once the flight is loaded, end the flight and go into FSX network play section. From here; someone will host a session as usual and the rest will join in. The Ideal Flight assessment and weather will become active for each. If all start close together in the same "weather cell", perhaps at the same airport, the weather effects will appear most similar for all players. At the end of the flight compare scores.
If the assessment is entered into the log, the aircraft and the location are entered into the current profile. If it is intended to save a FS Main Menu/Network Play landing position, but want to keep the current parked aircraft, please choose a new aircraft before entering the FS Main Menu command.
Please see Fly! for more information on network and multiplayer games. Remember that FSX Steam Edition has a different mode of network play, but the instructions remain the same for IF10.
From the popup menu Internet Locations section, the VATSIM Flight Plan filing form is auto-loaded with details from the current flight.
Remember to set your expected Zulu departure time. VATSIM Pre-file data is automatically saved for each IF10 profile.
Press the Restore button (top left) to recover the pre-edited values. Hold Shift or CTRL to Restart the data. (>augmented)
